New Re-Entry Regulations for KITAS and KITAP Holders

Directorate General of Immigration, Republic of Indonesia has released a new regulation in Circulating Letter No. No IMI-KU.02.02.1884 dated on July 10, 2014 about Re-entry Permit and the Application of Biometric Base for Processing Immigration Documents. The content of the Circulating Letter is announcing that Single re-Entry Permit will be no longer available, and all KITAS as well as KITAP holders will required to apply for Multiple Re-entry Permit. This generally applied for all foreigners family and expatriates working in Indonesia. The Government recently enacted new tariff for all immigration service for Indonesian and foreigners who only visit, stay or work in Indonesia, as well as naturalization process. Most of tariffs have been increased, including visa on arrival, passport making and renewal, processing KITAS- KITAP and re-entry permits (see Peraturan Pemerintah/Government Regulations No. 45/2014). Multiple Re-Entry Permit (MERP) will be granted according to the expiration date of the KITAS and KITAP. There are those for under 6 months, for 6 months up to one year and for those that apply KITAP for 5 years.
